Bernard Alvin Gerber, age 80, born May 11, 1935: devoted husband to Millie, nee Sherman; loving father to Gary, Marla (Doug) Seibold, Beth Silver (Ted Mellow) and Mariann (Scott) Weiss; proud grandfather of Lucas, Bennett, Arie, Jane, Joe, Zach, George, Alex, Sydney and Amelie; dear brother of Jerome (Lynn) and fond uncle of Michael (Lisa), Jordan (Lynn Meyer), Hillary (Jason) and the late Cory. Loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls and the Blackhawks. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, www.ccfa.org, would be appreciated. I loved your vivacious demeanor…playful, youthful, joyous (dare I omit mischievous). I always looked forward to spending time with you, as you engaged us rambunctious kids with equal youthfulness! You gave us much love & a ton of laughs! Thank you for contributing so much to my life.

In my early years, uncle Bennie always was giving with advise, praise and of course wisdom. But what I remember most is that he had the gift of gab and a passion to make us all laugh. His guidance to look for the funny in life to enrich the lives of all. You will be missed by not only me, but each of us that you have touch over the years. Now is your time to give the funny to the rest you shall meet in your next journey.
